Charter holds bi-monthly PMO Roundtable meetings for CIOs and Enterprise PMO Executives. We currently have over 40 executives involved in this group. The meetings are facilitated by Charter CEO Bill Leonard. The members decide what topics they want to cover and a member of the group volunteers to present the topics and to host the meeting.
Here are some topics from previous meetings as well as planned topics for future meetings.
- PMO Types, Maturity Models and standards: Discuss the various types of PMO models, our experiences with PMOs, and best practice recommendations.
- Portfolio Management: Discuss portfolio creation, categories, prioritization, balancing, and governance.
- Resource and Cost Management: Discuss matching priorities to resources and managing portfolio and project costs.
- Change Management: Discuss why many projects fail due to poor change management (e.g., process change, education, adoption). Discuss change management best practices.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPI): Discuss PMO KPIs and metrics. Review currently used KPIs and their effectiveness.
- PPM Tools: Review PPM tools and discuss best practices for tool implementation
